Hosted by Rocky River Watershed Council, a gathering of local elected officials, staff and agency members convened at Middleburg Heights Community Center on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, to discuss the future of Abram Creek Watershed.  Abram Creek, a subwatershed of Rocky River, flows through parts of Brook Park, Middleburg Heights, Cleveland and Berea. Mel Hauser and Ed Kelly board members of RRWC, and Jared Bartley, watershed coordinator for the Rocky River, led attendees through a discussion of the smartest and best management practices that could be used to assist communities in correcting problems and restoring the natural functions and habitat of the Creek.  Flooding was a concern of many, something that will be addressed in the Stormwater Masterplan for Abram Creek, according to Frank Greenland of the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District. Patti Astorino, Brookpark City Council, stated how important it was for communities to collaborate with ideas and funding. Other cities and agencies in attendance were Middleburg Heights, Cleveland Hopkins Airport, Cleveland Metroparks, Cuyahoga County Board of Health, Cuyahoga County Fair Board, and Cuyahoga County Soil and Water Conservation District.
