Cleveland Metroparks Adds Two New Wetlands to the "Emerald Necklace" in the Rocky River Watershed

 March 14 - Today, Cleveland Metroparks Board of Park Commissioners approved the acquisition of two new, crucial wetland properties to the Emerald Necklace. The properties, an undeveloped, 26-acre parcel on Engle Road in Middleburg Heights is adjacent to the Lake-to-Lake Trail and the 20-acre "Heron Rookery Wetland" in North Royalton which is along the East Branch of the Rocky River, enhance Cleveland Metroparks comprehensive ecosystem mission of conservation. Golf Courses of the Rocky River Watershed

Golf Courses are often suspected as sources of chemical pollution in surface water – rivers, creeks and lakes.  This includes nutrients (phosphorus and nitrogen), pesticides and herbicides.  Also, surface water features on golf courses often lack protective buffers – areas that are kept un-mowed or planted with trees or shrubs – that would help to filter out…
